Lord Alanbrooke (1883-1963)
Born Alan Francis Brooke, Lord Alanbrooke was a distinguished military leader during World War II serving as chief of the Imperial General Staff from 1941 to 1946. He was recognized for his leadership during the British retreat from the beaches of Dunkerque. He was born in France but was schooled in England at the Royal Military Academy.
