Beatrix Potter (1866-1943)
Author and illustrator whose characters including Peter Rabbit are recognized internationally and universally loved. Her books include "Peter Rabbit", "Two Bad Mice", "Jemina Puddleduck", "Jeremy Fisher", "Roly Poly Pudding", "The Tale of Tom Kitten", "The Tailer of Gloucester" and "Wag by Wall". The animal characters in her books were based on her pets and her watercolor illustrations were inspired by the countryside that surrounded her cottage in Sawrey, Cumbria.
