The use of platitudes such as, "It's better to bend than to break" has the effect of dissumlation that merely serves to reinforce English ideology of imperialism upon Wales. Discounting the legitimacy of Welsh freedom is the primary vehicle via which England continues to squash Welsh culture, politics, economy, language, and ultimately -- Welsh survival. The politely demur comment, "There are far wiser heads out there than this one" is a red herring to detract from the seriousness of the Welsh situation. It furthermore indicates a lack of intent to understand the lived Welsh experience. If Wales continues to be oppressed and denigrated by Westminster, we may see an outbreak of violence in spite of the fact that Plaid Cymru stands strongly against violent means.

> I had seen that story about Westminster refusing to match the EU funds. It surely did not sound right. Question: Did Westminster keep the EU funds or did EU not produce them under the circumstances?
> Are you advocating total independence from Great Britain and UK? Or, are you advocating a total separation from English control but within the UK as Scotland has?
> Please allow me one kind word for my beleaguered English cousins. Did you know that there is a group there advocating the same thing, a separate parliament for England? Each of the four entities of UK would govern themselves in all except international relations. Then, there is York that wants to go its own way but we'll not get into that.
> Bend a knee. No red-blooded American would agree to bending a knee. However, "Gwell plygu na thorri". It is better to bend than to break. And, that does not mean surrender. The tree that can bend in the storm grows stronger.
> Enough from Hazel. There are far wiser heads out ther than this one.
