> Your right Hazel...but remeber that Ireland was 'Christianized' by Saint Patrick who was a Briton abducted in his youth by the marauding Irish. It is thought he may have come from Banwen (Near Neath), or Tair Onnen also in Glamorgan (though there are claims for Northern England also). Before Patrick (Padraig), Ireland was pagan while Wales was a Christian nation. Very true. And, if memory serves, Ireland developed a different kind of Christianity caused by the teaching of St. Patrick. Didn't that lead to the conflict over such things as when Easter should be observed and who was truly head of the Catholic Church? Have you read "How the Irish Saved Civilization"? by Thomas Cahill? In reading that, I was reminded of some facts that I'd long since forgotten. Bishops did not govern dioceses. Abbots and Abbesses were the leaders. And, the picture of Rome! I'd best stop. Hazel
