Land's End - Cornwall
Land's End. Wikipedia photo
The western most tip of mainland England is an empty, windswept spot, long inhabited only by granite boulders looking out on the jagged rocks off shore. Views take in the Longships Light, the Wolf Rock Light, and the Scilly Islands, more than 30 miles offshore. To cater for the many thousands who come here just to say they have been, a small maritime center with craft workshops joins the inevitable snack bars and souvenir shops. You might want to give the theme park and Land's End Experience a miss to walk out to the turf-covered cliffs and look out towards the New World, about 3200 miles to the west.
