From London, the M3 heads west to Southampton. At exit 8, take A303 west to Ilchester, from where a minor road leads to Yeovilton (about 5 miles north of Yeovil, approx 170 miles from London). Here, at the Royal Naval Air Station is a museum that is an absolute must for World War ll buffs, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, where the development of Naval flying is shown in great detail from its earliest days. Over 40 aircraft cover more than 80 years of naval flying, plus the "Ultimate Aircraft Carrier Experience" with all the sights and sounds (and smells) of a flight deck. Also on display is the British prototype Concord.
