Day 1 Visit Oxford, one of the most famous university cities in the world, with its wonderful architecture, rivers and dreaming spires. Oxfords most famous college buildings and discover some of the Cities secrets. Christ Church College and its great dinning hall, inspiration for Hogwarts Dinning Hall. The beautiful staircases that link up with the hall were also used for filming interior scenes at Hogwarts. Lewis Carroll the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, took inspiration from the same College where he attended. Duke Humphrey's library containing ancient manuscripts was filmed and contained ancient books of spells. The Divinity School at Oxford was used to recreate Hogwarts infirmary.
Nearby is one the country's largest private homes the ever so grand Blenheim Palace; we see the state apartments, Italian gardens and parkland. We can organise a picnic lunch in the magnificent grounds over looking the lake and bridge. (Weather permitting) The pleasure grounds at Blenheim includes a very challenging maze, adventure playground and butterfly house. We continue on to the glorious Cotswolds to see fairy tale villages. Arrive Queen's hotel Cheltenham. The hotel where many of the actors stayed during filming such as Richard Harris.
Day 2 Visit Gloucester Cathedral, the cloisters are regarded as one of the most beautiful architectural gems in Britain and form the backdrop for several ghost scenes Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This magnificent Cathedral also hides a secret... behind an ancient door a set of cold steps takes us down to the crypt. Burial place of the monks from the old monastery, we have a private tour of the crypt with our cathedral guide who will reveal Gloucester Cathedrals past. Your own driver guide completes the tour showing you the effigies of a real Knight and the tomb of an English King who was murdered nearby in Berkeley Castle.
Lunch at the Angel Inn in the historic village of Lacock, the perfectly preserved streets of Lacock were used in the filming of the BBC adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice" The Abbey was converted into a private residence in 1539 it still retains much of its medieval character, thus provided locations for various interior scenes at Hogwarts School. We can explore the cloisters doubling as Hogwarts corridors. In the dark chambers of Lacock Abbey we discover medieval sarcophagus and a witches caldron used in the Harry Potter movies.
Drive through the rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside. Wardour Castle, unusual hexagonal ruins of this 14th century castle stand in beautiful landscaped gardens by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. The Castle featured in the movie Robin Hood-Prince of Thieves. Return to London Heathrow Airport Via Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral and Windsor Castle for photo stops.
Cost is per car not per person and include: The services of your professional authorised Blue Badge driver/guide with luxury people carrier with air-con front and back, local tax, parking, complimentary mineral water, newspaper, tour planning for vacations and theatre booking if required. Please remember only Blue Badge driver guides are authorised to give guided tours inside the many of the great churches, museums and castles around Britain. Guides gratuity is at your discretion.
Cost for extended vacations is based on a daily rate and number of persons touring.
Qualify for Winter* rates when you book two full day tours in and around London. Offer not to include period starting 20th of December to the 2nd of January. Touring on the 24th/25th/26th /31st of December/1st January will incur a £150 per day surchange.
- For up to 2 people, per day cost: £350 GBP including guides overnight expenses.
- For up to 4 people, per day cost: £450 GBP including guides overnight expenses.
- For up to 6 people, per day cost: £550 GBP including guides overnight expenses.
Entrance fees are not included. Example of entrance fees: The Tower of London: £13.50 for adults, £37.50 for family (2+3) The British Museum: FREE, Natural History Museum: FREE, Science Museum: FREE, Shakespeares Globe: £8.00 for adults, £24.00 for family (2+3) London Eye: £11.50 Westminster Abbey £7.50 for adults, £15.00 for family. Windsor Castle: £12.00 for adults, £30.00 for families (2+3)
How to pay and cancellation
We accept Visa, Mastercard Or Cash. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will incur the full cost of tour. Cancellations with less than 14 days notice will incur 50% of full cost of tour.
