The Design Museum is unique. There is quite simply nothing else like it in Europe. It was founded in 1989 with the intention of offering an insight into the role design plays in our everyday lives from the origins of mass production to the present day. With its regularly changing exhibitions and displays the museum aims to ensure that visitors of all ages will enjoy their visit.

The museum contains two main galleries. The Collection gallery provides a series of thematic displays, which have a historical emphasis. The showcases explore the different aspects of design, illustrating how these affect both the way products look and how they are used. The Review gallery examines international examples of contemporary design. This allows you to see some of the most innovative designs currently on the market and to examine concepts and prototypes offering a glimpse into the future.
