Royal National Theatre South Bank, SE1 Tel: (0) 171 452 3400 Waterloo Completed in 1976, the Royal National Theatre houses three separate theatres, each with unique seating characteristics: the Olivier, 1200 seats surrounding an open, circular stage, the Lyttelton, seating 900 in front of a proscenium arch and the Cottesloe, a theatre with removable seating so that actors and audience can co-mingle. The complex also includes galleries, restaurants, large public performance areas, bookshops and bars, guaranteeing some sort of activity at all hours of the day.
