St. Martin-in-the-Fields

St. Martin-in-the-Fields

Trafalgar Square, WC2
Tel: (0) 171 839 8363
Charing Cross

Designed and constructed by James Gibbs from 1721-6, St. Martin-in-the-Fields combines elements from Roman classical architecture, Andrea Palladio, and Sir Christopher Wren and has been the inspiration for much church architecture around the world. It is also the parish church for Buckingham Palace and the Royal Family. In addition to normal services, the church also hosts lunchtime concerts on selected weekdays. In the crypt, there is an art gallery and the London Brass Rubbing Center where souvenir rubbings can be made of accurate replicas of medieval monumental brasses.
